 Case Study

Mobile phones have an extremely large number of functions. Nevertheless, even after reading the manual, users often cannot imagine real-life situations in which they would actually use various functions. Rather than just leave these functions unused, a mobile phone manufacturer came to us to ask whether we could make the functions easier for the users to understand.

In response, TOIN assembled a project team whose members came up with specific ideas for using all the mobile phone functions. The result was a manual that gave usage examples for the mobile phone. This kind of manual that encourages the use of a product is a called a "Motivational Manual."

We included with the mobile phone a booklet that described original situations in which to use the functions, such as at the workplace, after leaving work, at home or at the PTA.

The client's sales department was very pleased with the final result because it differentiates the company from its competitors, and the manual was highly rated by users.

Based on this experience, we created cable layout manuals for video and DVD players that could be folded into a video or DVD case and taken out as required and full-size manuals that could be folded out into a newspaper size to make them easier to understand. We always have innovative ideas for manuals and we can create manuals that are as easy and enjoyable to read as magazines. Not only the manual production department but also the sales department of the client agreed that our manuals had maximized the added-value of the product.
